Tomorrow Squad Beginner's Guide: Roles, Talents and Summon Builds

A Tomorrow Squad starting plan: pick a hero by map, read the three roles, and turn Dr. J's turrets into a summon build that covers the whole team.

Tomorrow Squad hands you a roster wide enough to make the first choice feel like a collection problem. It is not. The map tells you which job you need, and the run only asks you to make three talent picks at a time. The English title is a working translation and the game currently runs in Chinese, so the hero names below are readable labels rather than store-listing terms.

Three jobs, and attacks you never press

Heroes fall into damage, tank and support. Basic attacks fire automatically, so your input is the hero choice before the run and the triple talent picks during it. The role you pick first decides how the rest of the run feels. Because talents arrive three at a time, a run is a chain of small commitments rather than one big build. Two picks into a summon line is a signal to keep going; picks scattered across three different lines usually leave you with three half-built answers.

JobWhat it solvesWho fills it
DamageScreen clear and boss damageHarley, Ichin
TankHolds the first wavesChef
SupportHealing and extra bodiesHealer, Pea-Shooter Girl

If the first wave is already leaking past your front line, take the tank before the damage hero. If the map applies poison and you have no answer for the ground, a damage pick that ignores the tiles will not save the run.

Harley clears the screen and the floor

Harley's chain lightning bounces across the screen, which makes her the wave-clear answer in dense maps. At epic rarity she also clears ground effects such as the purple poison tiles, and that is the specific reason she is the poison-map pick.

If the map is poison, run Harley at epic; below epic, the tiles stay on the floor and you need a different plan. If the stage is a crowded screen with no ground effects, her chain lightning still does the screen-clear job, but do not ask her to carry boss damage.

Ichin buys distance

Ichin's long-range burst comes as a sword storm with knockback. That combination is useful when enemies close the gap before your damage has time to ramp, because the knockback resets the distance and the burst lands at range.

If enemies reach your line too quickly, Ichin's knockback is the fix rather than another close-range body. If the boss sits far away and your melee hero cannot reach it, Ichin is the ranged boss-damage pick. If fast enemies stack in a straight line, the knockback also stops them from piling onto your front hero, which is often worth more than the burst itself.

Dr. J turns a run into a summon build

Dr. J summons turrets that attack on their own. Upgrading his skill in the run turns the turret into a mega turret with piercing shots, and he adds a mech every ten seconds. His team-wide buff raises the damage of summon builds, including turrets, drones, the flame fort and mines, and the transcend skill doubles his mech count.

If your talent picks already include drones, a flame fort or mines, Dr. J multiplies them. If you are running pure direct damage, his team buff has fewer targets, so commit to him only when you plan to add summons. If you have the transcend skill, his mech count doubles, which makes the summon plan scale without another damage pick. The practical takeaway: Dr. J wants a board that already has bodies on it. His turrets and mech give him his own damage, but the team buff is what makes him a support pick for summon lineups rather than a solo carry.

Low rarity still forms a working team

The chef can tank and damage through the early stages, the healer sustains the line, and the pea-shooter girl summons units that keep adding chip damage. None of them needs a high rarity to do the job, and together they cover the three roles. The girl's pea shooters are extra bodies as much as they are damage, so they buy the healer time to keep the chef standing.

If your roster is all low rarity, run the chef, the healer and the pea-shooter girl instead of chasing a single high-rarity carry. If the chef dies before the healer can matter, add another body rather than more damage, because the run is failing on the front line.

FAQ

Do I have to aim basic attacks?

No. Basic attacks fire automatically; your decisions are the hero you bring and the three talent choices offered during the run.

Which hero clears poison maps?

Harley, but only at epic rarity, where she clears ground effects such as purple poison tiles.

Is Dr. J good without other summons?

He still brings turrets and a mech every ten seconds, but his team-wide summon buff pays off most when you already run drones, a flame fort or mines.
